300 - Exceeding Expectations

Besides accumulating a whopping 70 million dollars this weekend, the movie 300 was amazing. It had awesome fight scenes, drama, and was quite close to being historically accurate too. (Minus the weird-looking Imortals and the fact that Xerxes was 7 feet tall and looked like a female from the neck up). The plot is quite simple: the king of Sparta wants to go to war against Xerxes instead of surrendering to him. Sparta's laws and council members will not let him, so he decides to go to war unofficially with 300 of his greatest men. After some amazing fight scenes and thousands of dead bodies, the 300 have all been killed. Sparta learns of this, and a year later, their entire army meets at the same pass to defeat Xerxes. All in all, this was a great action movie. Tell us what you thought!

Will Smith states, "I gotta get me one of these," as he blasts off into outer space to tackle on the aliens. Again, stay tuned for next week's reel time question of the week, which will be dealing with the movie Jumanji.

Predicting Accurately!

The upcoming movie 300 will ignite a flame and bring in audiences across the world with the amount of action and violence inscribed in it. I believe this movie will become a classic with due time and will bring in revenues that will surpass records or will come tremendously close. The previews for it look amazing and it is a mix of Lord of the Rings, Alexander, Kingdom of Heaven, and others. A movie with a mix of these box office hits has to become a success. I cannot wait for its release on March 9th, this Friday. I'm going to it for sure and will comment on it in a week or so. Please leave me a comment and tell me about the hype or anything over this movie! Again, this WILL BECOME one of the greatest movies of all time!

Reno 911!:Miami- Tickling America's Funny Bone

Reno 911!: Miami is exactly how I imagined it. The plot was unstructured, the time was also slim as it was 80 minutes, yet there were times with which comedy was at its best. The Comedy Central TV series deploys the group on a trip to Miami for a police convention. Upon their arrival, they are rejected by their peers as not being on the so called list and are forced to stay in a nearby hotel, their hopeful aspirations crushed. However, over their stay, the hotel with which the Miami police and other police academies are at get a taste of a chemical substance or contagious epidemic and the streets of Miami are left unprotected as the Reno group steps up to take on the challenge to be the "Protector of Miami.." Such odd job tasks include moving a whale, figuring out the investigation, getting a Kroc out of a suburban pool, and other unmentionable hilarious parts. The movie overall is extremely comical and left for me a memorable sensation after I left the movie theater. Other friends of mine agree with this standpoint and I encourage all of you to go see the movie, yet background or knowledge of the cast and its airing on Comedy Central will help immensely. Actors include Cedric Yarbrough and Niecy Nash, and is rated R for some nudity, crude humor, language, and drug use (not one for the kids ; ) ). I give this movie a 2.5 to 3 tickets. Jim Carrey Breaking Out of the Funny Role?

The Canadian product, Jim Carrey, has played the comical role for numerous years and has succeeded in every movie he's starred in. I believe that most of us will never forget him in the role of Lloyd Christmas in Dumb and Dumber. Let us also not forget Liar/Liar, Ace Ventura Pet Detective, Me, Myself, and Irene, Cable Guy, The Mask, The Grinch, The Truman Show, and Lemony Snickets, which have propelled the actor into the comical spotlight. However, the upcoming movie, The Number 23, is far from comical, yet resides its presence in the dark atmosphere of mystery, violence, and is overall a psychological thriller. "The Number 23" revolves around a man (Jim Carrey) whose life takes an abrupt turn after he encounters a unique book entitled "The Number 23". The book seems to parallel his own life and starts to take a stranglehold of his own imagination and mold his personal will/thought patterns. His obsession reveals to him a foreshadowing of graver consequences that will be sketched into his life and realizes his life is about to take a complex turn. The movie is rated R and is suspenseful from beginning to end. The Butterfly Effect, Secret Window, and Hide and Seek take root or follow a similar pathway in their content and are good parallels to this movie. In turn, after the premier of the movie, raving reviews have emerged. Personally, I'm looking forward to seeing this movie and the movie is released tomorrow, February 23 2007. Jim Carrey is finally transitioning into a new role and I believe that this movie will propel him into more serious positions and movies. My prediction for the movie is a rating of 3-4 stars. Breach

For anyone who likes those intreguing, espianage type movies, this one's for you. While Breach can't quite be labeled a thinking person's movie, it grips you until the last scene. I was quite surprised that I got lost in this movie, especially after being shown what the result of the movie would be in the first scene. The plot was good too. I wouldn't put Breach in my top 10 picks, but I liked it a lot. What did you think?
