Jim Carrey Breaking Out of the Funny Role?
The Canadian product, Jim Carrey, has played the comical role for numerous years and has succeeded in every movie he's starred in. I believe that most of us will never forget him in the role of Lloyd Christmas in Dumb and Dumber. Let us also not forget Liar/Liar, Ace Ventura Pet Detective, Me, Myself, and Irene, Cable Guy, The Mask, The Grinch, The Truman Show, and Lemony Snickets, which have propelled the actor into the comical spotlight. However, the upcoming movie, The Number 23, is far from comical, yet resides its presence in the dark atmosphere of mystery, violence, and is overall a psychological thriller. "The Number 23" revolves around a man (Jim Carrey) whose life takes an abrupt turn after he encounters a unique book entitled "The Number 23". The book seems to parallel his own life and starts to take a stranglehold of his own imagination and mold his personal will/thought patterns. His obsession reveals to him a foreshadowing of graver consequences that will be sketched into his life and realizes his life is about to take a complex turn. The movie is rated R and is suspenseful from beginning to end. The Butterfly Effect, Secret Window, and Hide and Seek take root or follow a similar pathway in their content and are good parallels to this movie. In turn, after the premier of the movie, raving reviews have emerged. Personally, I'm looking forward to seeing this movie and the movie is released tomorrow, February 23 2007. Jim Carrey is finally transitioning into a new role and I believe that this movie will propel him into more serious positions and movies. My prediction for the movie is a rating of 3-4 stars.
